Nenriki Kendo Club
kendo_london_nenrikioining Nenriki Kendo Club

Nenriki is a member’s club with an annual membership fee of £60 and charges for practice (Dojo fees) of £5 per session (visitors and members). Fees can be paid in many ways but standing orders are preferred as they reduce administration and consequently big discounts are given for payment in this way. A typical membership cost for twice per week is £20 per month including annual fee.

Nenriki does not have a separate Juniors’ section and we normally only accept Juniors aged 15 or above who are capable of joining practice with adults. We have many CRB checked instructors but our child protection policy requires Juniors (aged 18 years or less) to be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

The club membership application form can be downloaded here. Nenriki membership entitles you to train and use club equipment at the Dojo, and register with the BKA as a Nenriki member.

Membership of the British Kendo Association (the controlling body for Kendo in Britain) should be arranged separately. The current cost is about £60 per annum. This will provide you insurance and permit you entry to a range of Kendo events (e.g. training camps, gradings and competitions). (Note: BKA ‘temporary membership’ is included in the Beginners’ Course fee).

kendo_london_nenrikieginners’ Courses

If you want to start kendo, we offer an 8-week beginners’ course every term. We supply all the equipment necessary to start, except clothing. You only need to bring a track-suit or loose fitting light-weight clothing, soap and towel. Please email startkendo@gmail.com enquire. Courses will be at least 8 weeks, on Tuesdays from 6:40pm.

Courses fill quickly and enrolment is strictly on a first-come-first-served basis (on receipt of application form and fees), so book early. The application form can be downloaded here. Remember that Kendo is a full contact physical activity and you should carefully read the section on risks.

The Beginners Course costs £125 (includes Club Annual Membership, BKA Temporary Membership (incl. insurance), instruction from experienced and fully qualified coaches, use of club equipment and a free shinai (bamboo sword) in week 4 of the course.) Beginners also get a discount on the subsequent term fees.
