Opening Times

Practice days are Tuesday & Friday (during school terms only) 6.40 - 8.30pm

The School is now open but with a different entrance from before (Fri 24 September 2010)
Major refurbishment is still on going at the school, so there is no car park. Parking is available on the roads surrounding the school, but they are in the congestion charge zone.

Visiting the Nenriki Kendo Club

All kendoka are warmly invited to practice at the Nenriki. Just turn up on the night of practice and you will be made most welcome. The changing rooms are usually open around 6.30pm before practice starts and until 9pm after which everyone must leave the premises.

If you are visiting London for a short while and would like to practice with us, we may be able to help you book accommodation or offer one or two nights accommodation in our houses. Please visit our contacts page to check if we can accommodate you BEFORE you arrive in London.

We usually have a set of club armour and shinai available for overseas visitors. Please bring your hakama and keikogi. Again please email us for availability BEFORE you arrive in London.

Beginners Courses

If you want to begin kendo we offer a 8-week beginners course. We will supply all the equipment necessary to start, except clothing. Please bring a track-suit or loose fitting light-weight clothing, soap and towel. Just come along. Please email startkendo@gmail.com for the starting date of the next course.

Fees: The Beginners Course costs £125, and includes insurance, reading materials, instruction and a free shinai (bamboo sword) in week 4 of the course.

Joining the club:

If you like kendo after the beginners course and want to start coming regularly, you are most welcome to join the club. Costs are £5 per practice. This entitles you to continue to train and to use club equipment. The membership application form can be downloaded here. Next course will be: Early January and May. Dates to be confirmed.

You will also have to join the British Kendo Association[BKA], the controlling body for Kendo in Britain, at a cost of £60 per annum. This will ensure that you are insured against injury to yourself or to others (very rare) and that you can participate in Kendo events (eg training camps, gradings and competitions).
